No matter who you are, you have some amount of fear of “putting yourself out there”. It’s completely natural. Fear of rejection, fear of the unknown. These are basic human responses. You can’t escape them without understanding that they are there.

Now I’m not saying you can completely get rid of these emotions, however you can become aware of them and control them.

See, some folks do not understand that everyone experiences these emotions. Even the hottest pop stars or celebrities have the same problem. The difference is, they are aware of the problem and are able to deal with it because they know it is a natural reaction.

So if they and many others are constantly experiencing these uncomfortable feelings, what then keeps them going out on stage and facing them?

To be successful, probably one of the most important traits to acquire is to face you fears and go for it. Now, perhaps some people have grown up in an environment where they are conditioned to have less than others or are possibly luckily genetically predisposed to experience less of these feelings than others.

So, what then keeps them from hiding and running into a corner curling up into the fetal position? The answer is a “WHY”. A “Big WHY”. Your “big WHY”. If you don’t know what I mean, then let me explain.

Think of a scale. On one side place your fears and one the other lets put your “WHY” (the reason you are doing what you are doing). Obviously we want your “WHY” to outweigh your fears. That is why we need a “Big WHY”.

Have you ever really sat down and figured out why you want the life you do? Perhaps… But have you written these reasons down?

Now take a look at them. Are they all “things” like expensive cars, mansions and other toys? The fact is these “things” are not what is going to make you happy. Merely have a Maserati and huge expensive mansion are not going to make you happy. What you really want is the experience that these things bring to you.

So when we start thinking about experiences rather than “things” it really broadens the spectrum for you to dig deep and figure out what you really want.

What emotions or feeling do you want to experience? What will being successful in your endeavor do to get you closer to them?

What I suggest is sitting down and writing our the feelings and experiences on a piece of paper. Physically writing down your goals have a very powerful effect. It is like taking them from a dream inside your mind and making them real.

When you do this, try to be as detailed as possible. Perhaps write an entire story of what your perfect day would be like. The more detailed you are, the better you will understand your true emotional needs, and when these outweigh your fears, it gives you a huge reason to face your fears and do what needs to be done.

Some may need to be pushed into a corner or hit rock bottom before they take massive action like this. You don’t have to get to that point though. I learned you don’t have to hit rock bottom before you can take action. You can get off at any floor you want to.

This can seem like a big project, and yes it will take a few hours to complete and even be emotionally draining. However, I can guarantee you the time and effort spent will be worth it.

As usual, email me if you need advice or have any questions.

To all of your success!
