Create Happiness Through Mindfulness
Have you ever noticed how your thoughts and emotions causes your body to react accordingly?
Observe how your body tenses up when you think of something that’s upsetting to you, and how much worse you start to feel as your mind obsesses on the same scenario over and over again.
Positive thoughts and emotions cause your body to react as well. The more positive scenes you imagine, the better you feel. It should come as no surprise then, how negative people only become unhappier as positive people live happily.
If you generally entertain negative thoughts, they will expand and eventually affect your health and all other areas of your life. When you get in the habit of looking for more positive things to think about; your health, relationships and life overall will automatically change for the better.
Using mindfulness is one of the easiest positive habits you can start adapting right now. Being mindful allows you to be in harmony with all life’s experiences as they come up, without you getting stuck or dragged down by every negative situation.
Mindfulness simply means paying attention to everything you are experiencing at any given moment.
You already know that the more you practice something the easier it becomes. The same applies to the control of your mind. You will continue to become better at attaining mindfulness with practice. You could also look into using meditation or Yoga to improve your mindfulness. Meditation is being attentive to your thoughts and where they might lead. Whereas Yoga centers around being mindful of your body and your connection to it.
When you find a program that works for you, stick with it. Give it at least 3 month of daily practice and you will have ingrained a new positive habit that will serve you for many years to come.
Know that when you are mindful you are fully present, living deeply in the now and are connected to your true reality. You will then have the upper hand in life without being bombarded by useless thoughts and distractions whose only purpose is to keep this true reality hidden from you.
An effortless way to begin practicing being mindful is counting your breath. As you sit down to relax your body, close your eyes and watch your breathing. As it begins to slow down, start counting as you exhale. Breath in slowly and deeply, then as you breath out count one. Breath in deeply again, on the exhalation count two…and so on. When you notice your mind wandering or if you loose count, start over from number one again. Do this for a few minutes at a time, 2-3 times a day.
The more you practice, the easier it will get. You will be able to obtain control for longer periods of time. Your concentration will dramatically improve, and soon it will be as natural as the breathing itself.
This is your first step in becoming a more balanced, happier person. Your mind is a tool to be used by you; not to be using you as a tool.
Take control of your mind so you can take control of your life.
